On July 25, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida made a video presentation at the keynote speech of the Web3 conference “WebX” held at the Tokyo International Forum. He appealed that the government is working on “improving the environment for the promotion of Web3.”
In a video message, Prime Minister Kishida said, “The Basic Policy 2023, which we compiled the other day, also includes measures to take into account user protection, while also working to improve the environment for the utilization of tokens related to Web3 and the revitalization of the content industry, and to expand the base of leaders and ideas.”
He also said, “I have heard that a major Japanese company will announce to the world an ambitious large-scale project that will create a valuable economic zone in the Metaverse space. I hope that today’s event will bring forth various projects that will regain the attention and energy of the Web3 industry.”
In front of Prime Minister Kishida, Koichi Ogiuda, chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party’s Policy Research Council, took the podium to give opening remarks. Like the Prime Minister, he talked about the attitude of the government and the Liberal Democratic Party regarding Web3, but at the end he said to the audience that even those who are not necessarily familiar with Web3 must take an “inclusive attitude” to become a standard, and he concluded by saying that he would like the world to communicate the possibilities of Web3 with such an attitude.
