Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer, David Schwartz, recently posted on X to clarify the allegations made by a user of the social media platform. The user made accusations that XRP’s blockchain protocol has a centralized design. This disproportionately empowers and enriches the top 1%.

Clarification of the Claims

David Schwartz took his time to answer every questionable claim and quickly replied to X. The CTO of Ripple, Schwartz, rejected all the accusations of XRP’s centralized enrichment.

To a user’s question – “Can you conclude the patent that XRP is created with a centralized design that will only benefit the top 1%?” He replied –

“I’m not sure what a hack of XRP would even mean. The ledger contents are public. The rules are public. Does it mean some change to the ledger contents that doesn’t follow the rules? A bug in XRPL could allow someone to do that and it would be a huge mess to roll back the ledger (as Bitcoin had to do in 2013). No such bug is known, of course. And any exploited bug would be fixed and so you couldn’t hack it the same way twice.”

Claims of Hacking XRP

In response to a concern regarding the likelihood of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) hacking XRP, Schwartz pondered the transparency and publicly accessible nature of the ledger contents and the regulations regulating XRP.

“I’m not sure what a hack of XRP would even mean…” he said. Is it a modification to the ledger contents that deviates from the rules?”

He went on to say that any potential defect permitting unauthorized alterations must not only be a major concern but would also be rectified quickly to avoid future exploitation.

David Schwartz also strategically denied the claims. He said he doesn’t exactly understand this claim and questions who the top 1% is and of what. He justifies XRP’s non-centralized protocol as it enables anybody who wants to utilize the ledger to monitor asset ownership and trade.
