South Korean tech giant Samsung has doubled down on its efforts to offer its users an immersive experience of the metaverse. Making one of its giant strides in the virtual world yesterday, Samsung introduced its new range of phones, Galaxy S22, at a virtual event held in metaverse platform Decentraland.

According to its website, the electronics company unveiled Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra – and Galaxy Tab S8 series at the ‘Samsung Unpacked 2022’. The virtual event was attended by more than 100,000 users in the first 11 hours starting at 1:37 pm UTC, with users joining via YouTube live stream as well.

To watch the event in the metaverse, attendees were invited to “Samsung 837X”, a virtual land in Decentraland that imitates Samsung’s flagship New York City location. Meanwhile, the event did not go as smoothly as planned since many users complained of technical issues while preordering the products and collecting the NFT badge reward during the live stream.

Samsung has recently ramped up its initiatives in the metaverse sector after the electronics giant revealed three new smart TVs that feature an NFT aggregation platform. The company launched its virtual land ‘Samsung 837X’ earlier this year intending to offer a “groundbreaking digital experience connecting technology with art, music, fashion and sustainability.”
