The developers of the Shiba Inu network have partnered with Internet domain company D3 to offer the top-level domain .shib, a type of Internet domain, as part of a project focused on identity verification. is scheduled to start.
Representatives from Shiba Inu Network told CoinDesk in a Telegram chat that they have partnered with D3 to apply for the .shib top-level domain and that they will apply to ICANN, the global database of Internet domains, during the next application period. He announced that he plans to do so.
All Internet domain applications are passed and vetted by ICANN, which gives owners the right to sell all domains within a particular suffix, such as “.xyz” or “.app.” Cryptocurrency domains take this a step further, linking wallet owners to domain names that can be used as proof of identity in blockchain applications, but they don’t work across the internet via browsers, email, or mobile devices.
By applying for a genuine .shib top-level domain, Shiba Inu Network hopes to become one of the first Web3 networks to have its own DNS namespace.
“Partnering with D3 allows us to expand outside of our existing ShibArmy and reach over 5 billion internet users,” said Shytoshi Kusama, lead developer of Shiba Inu Network. will have direct access to the Shiba Inu Coin (SHIB) ecosystem.” He said, “Introducing authentic domains to Shiba Inu Coin is a big deal and will help us build long-term revenue generation within the ecosystem while expanding our vision for digital identity within our decentralized ecosystem.” We will promote it.”
Shiba Inu Network’s existing Shib Name Service (SNS) will be migrated to D3’s infrastructure. SNS, which serves as a means to introduce digital identity to all products built on the Shiba Inu network and Shibarium, a layer 2 network, was released in November.
