To develop the virtual currency ecosystem

Solana Labs, which develops technology related to the crypto asset (virtual currency) Solana (SOL), announced on the 11th that it will open a joint working space in Lower Manhattan, the southern tip of Manhattan, USA.

This working space is available for projects in the Solana ecosystem. Each project team can not only do business, but also hold events. First, Solana Labs, the Solana Foundation, and New York City policy makers will host an opening event.

The working space spans four floors and is 25,000 square feet (approximately 2,320 m²). Three of the four floors will be used for Solana-related projects. Each team will be able to rent the space free of charge if they apply for use and are certified.

At the launch event, New York-based Solana-related companies will be demonstrating their products. In addition, it will be possible to experience Solana Pay, blockchain games, NFT reception, etc.

Solana Labs co-founder Raj Gokal had the following to say about the announcement:

The creation of this working space reflects our intention to foster the cryptocurrency ecosystem in New York.

While many people avoid having an office, we strive to give early entrepreneurs a place to work and collaborate.

Also, Matthew Fraser, Chief Technology Officer of the New York City Government, commented below.

As the epicenter of the new tech world, New York City is committed to creating an environment in which Web3 companies can grow and innovate. Web3 technology will be a boon to New Yorkers.

I welcome the Solana community and look forward to working together in the future.

The announcement does not include a specific schedule, but according to the cryptocurrency media “Decrypt”, it seems that the store will actually open after the announcement.

What is Web3

Also known as the “Next Generation Internet,” it refers to a decentralized network based on blockchain. Specifically, it includes NFT and virtual currency.

The early Internet, in which the flow of information was one-way, is called “Web1”, and the current centralized Internet is called “Web2”.
