Kamino Finance, Solana’s (SOL) fast-growing decentralized finance protocol, will soon launch a points program, contributors announced on Tuesday. The move is a stepping stone to future token airdrops.
The points program could further fuel the growth of Camino, which has already been a mainstay of the Solana blockchain’s recent resurgence. Solana has more than tripled since mid-October as DeFi traders have returned to Solana’s on-chain trading, borrowing, lending, and yield-generating projects, especially Camino.
A person who contributed to the project under the handle Marky revealed on the X (formerly Twitter) space on the 7th that “Camino is about to start a points program,” and that this “could very well lead to future tokens.” There is,” he said.
The details of Camino’s point program have not yet been disclosed. Marius George Ciubotariu, who heads the Camino project, did not respond to requests for comment.
Jito also gives points
Several Solana protocols are working this year to gamify usage and award points to their most loyal customers. Many traders expect these points to help determine future airdrop allocations, so they plan their trading, staking, and yield farming strategies to maximize their allocations.
Such was the case with Jito, a Solana-based liquid staking token protocol, during its JTO airdrop on the 7th. More than 80% of the JTO tokens allocated for the current distribution round will be allocated to early protocol users according to the number of Jito points they have accumulated.
Kamino operates a platform that aims to maximize yield for depositors who want to provide liquidity to various Solana-based DeFi exchanges. A lending platform is also under construction.
Camino’s assets under custody (Total Value Locked: TVL) reached nearly $50 million as of the 7th, with a one-month growth rate of 257%. This was the highest growth rate among Solana-based protocols with TVL over $10 million.
