Sorare partners with Premier League
Major blockchain game company Sorare announced on the 30th that it has signed a multi-year license agreement with the English Premier League, one of the four major football leagues in the world.
Sorare is a fantasy sports (simulation) game based on the Ethereum (ETH) chain, featuring professional soccer players.
With this license agreement, users can own digital cards that reflect real-time player information as NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and participate in tournaments where card owners compete against each other. You can earn crypto assets (virtual currency) Ethereum (ETH) and collectible tokens in the game.
The partnership allows Sorare users to collect, buy and sell digital cards of all 20 Premier League club players and incorporate them into their own teams. Japan national team MF Kaoru Mitoma, who belongs to England’s first division Brighton, and Japan national team DF Takehiro Tomiyasu, who belongs to Arsenal, have also appeared as digital cards.
In October 2022, Sky News reported that the contract was expected to be worth approximately 5.1 billion yen (approximately $34.7 million) per year, but Sorare did not disclose the official contract fee with the Premier League.
