To promote the spread of Web3 games
Elixir Games, which provides a game distribution platform, announced on the 19th that it has entered into a strategic partnership with major game company Square Enix.
The purpose of the partnership is to raise awareness of Web3 among traditional gamers and promote the adoption of Web3 games. It will provide a seamless experience for traditional gamers by making it easier to find high-quality games that leverage Web3 technology.
Elixir Games is a US-based company founded in 2018. The workforce is spread out not only in the United States, but also in Europe and Asia. Initially, it specialized in blockchain games for desktops, but after collaborating with Epic Games, it began to distribute PC games on both Web2 and Web3.
Also, according to the official website, it supports multi-chains and supports various wallet services. It supports well-known blockchains such as Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Polygon (MATIC), and BNB chain.
The two companies will announce more information about their partnership in the coming months. From the contents of this announcement, it seems that Elixir Games will support Square Enix’s Web3 game business.
Square Enix led Elixir Games’ seed round funding in December 2022 with Sino Global Capital.
Commenting on the announcement, Elixir Games CEO Carlos Roldan said:
This partnership will help popularize Web3 games to the general public. Our users should play Web3 games without distinguishing them from traditional games.
2023 already sees more leaders in the gaming industry entering the Web3 space. This trend will continue further this year.
In addition, Mr. Hideaki Uehara, business development director of Square Enix, commented as follows.
Our partnership with Elixir Games marks another step in our exploration of the possibilities of decentralized gaming on Web3.

What is Web3
Also known as the “Next Generation Internet,” it refers to a decentralized network based on blockchain. Specifically, it includes NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and crypto assets (virtual currencies).
The early Internet, in which the flow of information was one-way, is called “Web1”, and the current centralized Internet is called “Web2”.

Recently, the company’s NFT collectible art project “SYMBIOGENESIS” is attracting attention. In February of this year, it was announced that NFT collectible art would adopt the Ethereum blockchain, and game utilities would adopt the Polygon blockchain.

Symbiogenesis is still in development. In March, prior to the service launch, a “treasure hunting campaign” was launched to search for “member cards (polygon-based NFT art)” on the map of the official website. On the other hand, the application for the member card reached the upper limit, so it was temporarily suspended after that. We are still working on resuming the campaign.
[Notice of postponement of treasure hunting campaign]
Today, we found a serious bug in the campaign and will postpone the Treasure Hunting campaign scheduled to start tomorrow.
We will inform you about the reopening as soon as we know the details. We sincerely apologize for the repeated delays.#SYMBIOGENESIS
