Syscoin network launches smart contract after the 1,317,500 block

Syscoin, a scalable blockchain protocol designed to allow for fast and secure applications, has released its Layer 2 rollup suite dubbed Rollux to enable native or cross bridge apps to tap into Web3 services.

The feature is part of Syscoin’s march towards the release of its ‘Phase 2: Rollups’ and will see projects benefit from Optimistic rollups and later ZK rollups. The layer 2 solution is a white glove service and offers users access to bleeding edge scalability for Solidity-based smart contracts.

Easy for projects to onboard

The Layer 2 suite, sporting EVM compatibility, will also allow for easy onboarding of projects from the Ethereum network. These applications can then tap into Syscoin’s network secured by Bitcoin’s network mechanism.

The platform’s negligible fees is another advantage projects can exploit to scale services.

Jagdeep Sidhu, Lead Developer at Syscoin commented that Syscoin’s unveiling of the Optimistic rollups was due to the high interest in the technology, especially as related to its security and scalability. Code-base maturity is also a factor, he added.

Optimistic rollups are already more mature than ZK because a Zk-EVM is yet to be released and tested in the wild. We also believe that with direct EVM equivalence such as Nitro and Cannon technologies, we can unlock performance and scale that will advance the space and likely give a window of a few years before ZK-Rollups will be as efficient.

Syscoin, which was launched in 2014, combines the secure technology of Bitcoin and the smart contracts capability of Ethereum to offer developers a coordinated modular platform. The Rollux’s release is part of the platform’s developmental milestones.
