American news magazine TIME has now added ApeCoin to its list of cryptocurrency payment options, the magazine announced Monday.

ApeCoin is the newly launched native token of the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection. The token was created by ApeCoin DAO, a decentralized community that oversees the development and proposed changes in the protocol.

Announcing the news via a tweet Wednesday, the New York-based publication said it will accept the new crypto-assets for its digital subscription services. Apart from ApeCoin, Time started accepting Bitcoin, XRP, Ether, and Dogecoin payments after it partnered with the popular cryptocurrency platform Crypto.com last year.

Congrats to the ApeCoin DAO on the rollout of @ApeCoin & thrilled we can announce that @TIME will be accepting $APE for digital subscriptions in the coming weeks on https://t.co/tiBU5fsE5B ⏰❤🍌🦍

In March 2021, Time Magazine auctioned off three of its most iconic magazine covers in the form of NFTs. At the time, it also partnered with crypto asset management firm Grayscale to hold Bitcoin on its balance sheet.

Time recently took another big step in the NFT ecosystem after it published its first issue as an NFT. The iconic NFT, titled The Prince of Crypto Has Concerns, featured Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin on the front page, along with an interview that discussed Buterin’s concerns over the crypto industry.

Becoming one of the first to adopt ApeCoin, Time Magazine has once again showcased its willingness to associate itself with the burgeoning industry.
