The Institute of International Business Communication (IIBC) announced on April 20 that it will start providing digital official certificates using blockchain technology for the TOEIC Program public tests to be held from April. It is the first time in Japan that a digital official certificate is issued for a large-scale certification exam.

Official certificates are often used in situations such as entrance exams and job hunting, but in recent years, online applications and entries have become mainstream, and digitalization that allows online submission of scores has been considered. It says. Therefore, IIBC utilizes blockchain technology to enable the issuance of digital official certificates that are as resistant to forgery and tampering as conventional paper certificates.

The digital official certificate will be displayed on the TOEIC application site for five years from the test date, and it is expected to be submitted to companies and schools as a URL or PDF. The official paper certificate will be issued as usual for the public test conducted in 2023, and will be abolished after 2024.
