The New York Stock Exchange has now filed a trademark application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to register its acronym ‘NYSE’ for multiple NFT and metaverse-related projects. The trademark filing was revealed by trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis in a Tweet Tuesday.

The New York Stock Exchange is coming to the Metaverse.

Per the application filed on February 10, the NYSE seeks to offer “downloadable virtual goods” along with “provision of an online marketplace for buyers, sellers, and traders of downloadable digital goods authenticated by non-fungible tokens (NFTs).”

The latest filing also suggests NYSE plans to offer a virtual exchange to enable trading of cryptocurrency and other digital assets.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time the stock exchange is entering the NFT business. In April 2021, the NYSE minted digital collectibles designed to commemorate the first public trade of six tech stocks: Spotify, Snowflake, Unity, DoorDash, Roblox, and Coupang.

At the time, the company noted that it is open to offering more NFTs in the future “as we continue to welcome new, innovative companies to our community.”
