Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest announced on December 6th that the stock price of crypto asset (virtual currency) exchange Coinbase was hovering near a 19-month high. The same stock was sold for consecutive days.
The sale of 180,422 shares would have brought in $24.3 million (approximately 3.645 billion yen, at an exchange rate of 150 yen to $1) at the closing price of $134.63. By December 5th, it had risen to $147.86. The sales were made from the Innovation (ARKK), Next Generation Internet (ARKW) and Fintech Innovation (ARKF) exchange-traded funds (ETFs), according to emailed comments.
The investment management firm also sold 99,595 units of Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), worth just under $3.5 million at Tuesday’s closing price. GBTC fell 0.51% to close at $34.92.
