Ripple’s University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) has received praise from Stuart Alderoty, the Chief Legal Officer at Ripple. The program, which supports blockchain research, has been commended for its global influence and its role in bringing together students and experts worldwide.

Alderoty’s Praise for Ripple’s UBRI Global Impact

Ripple’s fifth edition of the UBRI program, held in Toronto, concentrates on educating students and researchers about the latest developments in blockchain. 

During this event, Stuart Alderoty, Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer, praised the program’s remarkable global impact and success. He was featured in a panel discussion on the program’s opening day. While his panel largely focused on the need for regulatory clarity in the U.S. crypto industry, 

Further, Alderoty emphasized the significant role UBRI plays in driving academic research related to blockchain and digital assets. He noted that the initiative had facilitated collaborations between universities and industry leaders, providing students the chance to gain hands-on experience and knowledge in these emerging fields of cryptocurrency & blockchain.

Later, Alderoty took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his admiration for the talent represented at the UBRI program & even highlighted the program’s international reach.

UBRI 2023 Focusing on Emerging Trends

UBRI is Ripple’s initiative to promote blockchain technology understanding and encourage students to explore it. 

Since its launch in 2018, UBRI has joined forces with more than 45 universities in 20 countries, providing $11 million for blockchain research projects. It has facilitated over 1020 academic research efforts in the blockchain domain.

Meanwhile, this fifth edition of UBRI was all about educating students and researchers about the latest trends in blockchain, including central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), decentralized finance (DeFi), tokenization, and more. 

This year, it extends its reach globally with four prominent European universities, namely, the University of Trento (Italy), Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), IE Madrid (Spain), and EPITA (France), making the roster of UBRI partners invited for this year’s event.

Ripple’s UBRI has had a significant impact on the global blockchain landscape. This program reflects Ripple’s commitment to advancing blockchain knowledge worldwide.
