ANC Pharmacy, one of the largest pharmacy chains in Ukraine, has announced that it will accept cryptocurrency payments via contactless payment service Binance Pay.
Customers will be able to make instant payments while purchasing pharmacy products online at ANC Pharmacy, as well as pharmacy stores Kopiyka and Shara, using Binance Pay. The new feature will be available from January 3, as ANC announced yesterday.
The service is being rolled out initially at pharmacies in Kyiv and is the first time that pharmacies in Europe have accepted cryptocurrency payments.
To make a payment, customers must first download the Binance app and then visit the ANC website. Once they have chosen a product to order online, they will be able to pay using Binance Pay and pick up their order at a preferred pharmacy.
Binance has been expanding its presence in Ukraine over the past few years and previously partnered with Ukrainian supermarket chain Varus to allow customers to pay for grocery purchases using the Binance Pay Wallet. Back then, Varus was also the first supermarket in Europe that started accepting crypto payments:
Binance and VARUS are pleased to announce a unique opportunity to pay for food and other goods in VARUS thanks to Binance Pay technology. Using the Binance and VARUS app, customers can enjoy instant cryptocurrency payments and fast delivery in 9 cities of Ukraine (Kyiv, Dnipro, Kamianske, Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia, Brovary, Nikopol, Vyshhorod, Pavlograd).
In early 2022, Binance Ukraine’s general manager Kirill Khomyakov announced that launching a Binance Card in Ukraine was a top priority for the company. According to Khomyakov, cryptocurrency payments through services like the Binance Card do not violate Ukrainian laws as there is no ban on crypto-derived transactions in the country. However, direct payments in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are not permitted under local laws.
