Will Ripple and Hedera collaborate?

It has been revealed that the US company Ripple will consider collaborating with the distributed ledger Hedera project.

Although it has not been officially announced, it seems to have been revealed in an interview with Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse and Hedera co-founder Leemon Baird. The possibility of collaboration in digital assets and payments is emerging.

Interviews with both men were conducted during this year’s Davos conference. On the 18th, X published an interview with Max Walker-Williams, co-founder of the NFT (non-fungible token) related project “Utopian Lab.”

Baird also commented on X, citing a video of him talking with Garlinghouse:

When we work together as an industry, we can keep users safe, build trust, and unlock potential to support the world.

Baird also posted that he participated in the tokenization discussion at Davos.

At this point, details such as whether the two companies will collaborate and what kind of initiatives they plan to undertake are unclear.

Criticize SEC Chairman

Garlinghouse also gave an interview to CNBC at Davos on the 16th. At the time, US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Gary Gensler criticized the move, saying it was raising questions of political liability.

Specifically, we talked about the time it took to approve a physical exchange-traded fund (ETF) for the crypto asset (virtual currency) Bitcoin (BTC) and the lawsuit against major companies such as Ripple.

On that basis, he states the following:

Mr. Gensler is not acting in the public interest or in the long-term growth of the economy.

At some point, there will be a new chairman, and I think that will benefit the American people.

What is SEC?

Abbreviation for “Securities and Exchange Commission.” A U.S. government agency that supervises trading in securities such as stocks and bonds. The SEC’s mission is to “protect investors,” “maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets,” and “promote capital formation.”
