The Web3 ecosystem can help solve the problem of trust in artificial intelligence (AI).

Cathy Hackl, chief metaverse officer at Journey, an innovation and design consultancy, said, “We all know[AI]has credibility issues. This is a big deal for the Web3 community. It’s a huge opportunity and can be a layer of trust,” he said at a session on AI and the Metaverse at Consensus 2023 on Wednesday.

Huckle believes augmented reality (AR) glasses and similar wearable devices will replace smartphones in the post-smartphone era.

“If you move from phones to glasses, everything you see and hear may become ‘real estate worth,’ but that’s a pretty scary idea,” Huckle said.

“I think that’s where the Web3 layer will be able to provide credibility and tell you that what you’re looking at is correct and belongs to someone.”

As for strategies for making Web3 mainstream, Huckle said it needs to be less restrictive.

As for the Metaverse, he sees the current state of “the metaverse cooldown that everyone is skeptical about” after last year’s “metaverse hype”. The industry is looking to the “long game,” he said.

“I think Web3 and the Metaverse are a little tough right now. But let’s keep developing. The future depends on all of us out there.”
