Web3, “same seeds” as the dawn of Marvel: Marvel Studios founder[Consensus 2023]| coindesk JAPAN

Marvel Studios founder and chairman David Maisel said at Consensus 2023 on Wednesday that Web3 reminds him of the early days of Marvel Studios.

Maisel recently founded Mythos Studios and launched the NFT collection “Ekos Genesis Art Collection”. The collection features original drawings by the late Marvel and DC comics creators Michel Turner and Peter Steigerwald.

“There’s so much noise around us. There are so many things in life that take up too much time and are too distracting. So something new to get through… You need an identity, you need to get a sense of primitiveness out of it, and art makes that possible.”

In Maisel’s opinion, one of the joys of Web3 and digital art is sharing. “I really want to share this art and its possibilities.”

Despite the volatility of the NFT market over the past six months, Maisel said art has fundamental value beyond price.

“The ‘why?’ question has the same seeds as my past feelings for Marvel. Without the same passion, I don’t think this Web3 effort would have been possible.”
