WWF launches NFT drop on Polygon February 3

2 years ago 135

WWF’s Genesis NFT drop focuses on thirteen of the most endangered species, with the number of NFTs available to mint corresponding to how many of these animals are left in the wild. It will take place on the Polygon Mainnet on February 3.

The event will take place in collaboration with CyberKongz, an NFT project featuring unique and randomly generated 2D/3D social avatars for different online experiences, according to a tweet. The project has allocated 200 whitelist spots to community members. A raffle will be held on their Discord channel.

Enhancing environmental awareness

The environmental protection organization’s NFTs will enable holders to engage with their work more closely. This improved engagement will materialize in field trips to see these animals in the wild, meetings with leading conservationists, and attendance of Living Planet Report and State of the Planet Address, WWF’s invitation-only flagship events.

Why Polygon?

WWF chose Polygon (MATIC/USD) because it’s eco-friendly. According to their website, one transaction on Polygon has the equivalent carbon emissions of a single glass of tap water.

The NFTs can be paid for in crypto and fiat currencies. Another WWF partner in the initiative is World of Women, a leading NFT project. The collaboration will offer an exclusive experience for its community.

WWF is working together with OpenSea for a drop on their platform, featuring specially created artworks from Yam Karkai and TedsLittleDreams.

Connecting your wallet to the WWF marketplace

To buy an NFT from WWF, you need to download MetaMask. On the WWF website, click on ‘connect wallet’ in the top right-hand corner. They will walk you through the process.

Setting up Metamask for Polygon

After you download the MetaMask extension, create a MetaMask wallet or, if you have an wallet, click on Import Wallet. Choose a password and a secret recovery phrase.

Click on the tab Main Ethereum (ETH/USD) Network and add Matic network. From there, go to Custom RPC. Enter the following settings:

  • Network Name: Polygon
  • New RPC URL: https://polygon-rpc.com

Click Save. That’s all. You pay the gas fee for transactions on the Polygon network in MATIC.
