Yield Guild Games Southeast Asia (YGG SEA), a sub-DAO of Yield Guild Games, has onboarded 10,000 scholarships in just six months of launch, Invezz learned from a press release.
YGG SEA grew from 1,000 scholars in November 2021 to 10,000 in April 2022. There is still a long line of scholars hoping to be onboarded even though the guild has been moving swiftly to keep up with the demand.
YGG SEA has built a solid presence in Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand. YGG SEA co-founder and Indonesia Country Manager Irene Umar said:
We are building a community, and earning through playing games is just the beginning. We are here to create real impacts in people’s lives – not just financially but also socially and personally. We are here to open opportunities to everyone and we could do so because in the YGG SEA ecosystem, everyone has the same equal opportunity!
Leading titles available to community
YGG SEA acquires and lends yield-generating NFTs to players in Southeast Asia. It has invested in more than 60 games so far, with games such as Axie Infinity, Wasted Lands, Wonder Heroes, Space Wars, Thetan Arena, Star Sharks, Karmaverse, Mecha Morphing, Fancy Birds, and Aavegotchi available to the YGG SEA community.
With scholarships, people can play P2E games without needing to purchase anything up front or buy expensive NFTs. They can borrow the assets and receive most of their in-game earnings, paying YGG SEA a small fee.
Almost 180,000 guild members have minted badges
Over 173,000 eager guild members have already minted a badge, waiting for a scholarship to open up. The guild onboards scholars following an interview.
Among the scholarship program’s benefits are:
- Training and mentorship
- Free access to multiple P2E games
- Opportunity to participate in community building
- Taking leadership roles
Tailored to address local market challenges
YGG SEA addresses the onboarding challenges in each local market to increase game accessibility and maximize the earning potential of scholars. It makes sure gamers get access to language-specific education, content, and support.
