YouTube has taken another step towards Web3, as evidenced by the latest job posting listed by the video-sharing company on February 10. Per the LinkedIn post, YouTube is looking to hire a director to manage its Web3 product division.
Job responsibilities include managing several projects and defining, communicating, and executing the “vision, strategy, and roadmap for Web3 at YouTube.” The recruit would be required to execute product strategy, represent YouTube Web3 at a broader level, hire additional talent, and more.
The video-sharing giant has called for applicants with at least 15 years of experience in product management and expertise in Internet consumer products and/or crypto. It will also prefer candidates who know about “cryptocurrencies, blockchain, consensus mechanisms, NFTs, and other Web3 technologies.”
Known as the upcoming third generation of WWW, Web3 is a version of the internet with blockchain as the underlying technology. YouTube’s Chief Product Officer, Neal Mohan, recently mentioned the potential of Web3 and hinted at possible NFT and blockchain-related integrations.
“We believe new technologies like blockchain and NFTs can allow creators to build deeper relationships with their fans,” Mohan wrote in the blog post. “Together, they’ll be able to collaborate on new projects and make money in ways not previously possible.”
